'BOYS OFF TILL MARCH 24TH
|

The Good Ole Boys will enjoy a St. Patrick's Day without hockey, as the team riding
the wave of a four game winning streak will take St. Patrick's Day off due to hockey
scheduling. Having played a single game more than the rest of the Aluminum pack,
the off-week will draw the 'Boys even with the rest of the six teams on the number of
games played. With a 4-2 mark through the team's first six encounters, the red
shirts have come alive and have climbed into a tie with the Sawbones for second
place in the league. The Good Ole Boys will return to action on Wednesday, March
24th when the team entertains the suddenly rejuvenated Mr. Burger. The March
24th clash will once again mark a showdown of last season's championship game
and for the Good Ole Boys, they will be looking to erase a current three game losing
skid against their red shirt rivals. This upcoming game will mark the second and final
regular season meeting of the season between the 'Boys and Burger kids. Back on
February 3rd, the 'Boys fell 6-4 to Mr. Burger during the season opener. While Mr.
Burger will tangle with Kansas City during a St. Patrick's Day clash at Rivertown
Sports, as of now, Mr. Burger resides with a 2-3 record and currently sits in fifth
place. However, since losing their high-powered forward due to injury, Mr. Burger
has replenished their talent loss and appear to be back in title-defending strength.
On March 10th, Mr. Burger waylaid the Dragons 13-3. As for the Boys', now
celebrating their seventh season of hockey under the 'Boys banner, they will enter
the March 24th tilt with a 4-2 overall record including a current four game winning
streak intact. Face-off for the March 24th game will take place at 8:00pm at
Rivertown Sports. Plenty of great choice are still available for 'Boys Hockey.

ZEHR POWERS IN HATTY TO OVERPOWER KANSAS CITY
|

Powered by a hat-trick from Matt Zehr, the Good Ole Boys were able to power drive
Kansas City to a 9-2 defeat on Wednesday, March 10th at Rivertown Sports. The
Good Ole Boys' assault on Kansas City (formerly Blades of Steel), was spearheaded
by five different goal scorers, as the 'Boys 'cashed in' on their highest scoring output
of the season. Dan Craveling would begin the 'Boys offense, as a Craveling blast
from the point would find the back of the net to open the scoring at 1-0. Joe Weiland
and Brad Zehr would each tally a pair and Nate Skoboda would add in a singleton (in
addition to Zehr's 3 goals and Craveling's 1 goal) to lift the Boys' to the 9-2 decision.
Good Ole Boy forward Kurt Boeske would deliver two big assists to Brad Zehr, as the
East Kentwood grad would complete the night with two assists for the victors. Good
Ole Boy goaltender Kevin Wootton would see his shut-out bid tainted and tarnished
midway into the third period, as Kansas City would finally manage to penetrate the
Muskegon-force-field in goal. The tension between Kansas City and the Good Ole
Boys runs thick and long over the past several seasons. Since the birth of Blades of
Steel (now known as Kansas City) several seasons ago, the clash between these two
teams always sees its share of altercations. This game would of course see its
share, including a throw-down, show-down near center ice. While the line dance
near the center ring wasn't exactly a Pay-Per-View event, the Boys' Mike Shaver did
manage to make Ronald McDonald proud and serve up a Kansas City style of a filet
o'fish for Micky D's. The victory improved the 'Boys to a overall mark of 4-2.
In recognition of 50 years of professional hockey in Muskegon, the Grand Rapids
Griffins would like to welcome fans of the lakeshore to Van Andel on Friday, April 9
to celebrate and honor the historic accomplishment. In doing so, special tributes will
take place all game long to honor the legacy of the Muskegon Zephyrs, Mohawks,
Lumberjacks and Fury. Special ticket prices are available for this Friday contest
and the West Michigan Phantoms in conjunction with the Good Ole Boys will be
taking part and encouraging players from both teams to witness this pro-Muskegon
event. By the way...Did we mention it is a Dollar Beer and Dollar Dog Night at the
game! Besides the game long tribute to the real 'Hockeytown West', a special
drawing for Justin Abdelkader bobbleheads will be offered to those joining in this
Muskegon tribute offer. Ticket prices for this event will be $12 for LOWER Bowl
tickets if bought in advance.
If you would like to join the Phantoms and Good Ole Boys for this Muskegon Night at
the Van Andel, contact Woot and direct money to him by the following dates:
Phantom Players: Money Due to Woot no longer than Sunday, March 28th
Good Ole Boy Player: Money Due to Woot no later than Wednesday, March 31st
Game time for the game is 7:00pm and the Griffins will play host to the Lake Erie
Monsters. There will be a post-game skate for those fans wishing to take part after
the game. Again, if interested, contact Woot and hand over money by the above
mentioned deadline as tickets will be bought in advance to this game. Tickets will
be handed out to those going to the event roughly a week before the actual game.
